Anduril Lattice Catalog Adopts `platform_type: Animal` Primitive Following UAM Korea Tech Submission

Anduril's April 2026 Lattice Dashboard catalog release ships `platform_type: Animal` and `aliases.name: Bird (Species)` as first-class entity primitives, matching the schema submitted by UAM Korea Tech in March 2026 to address the airspace gap exposed by the 2024 Muan disaster.

The catalog gap that took 179 lives at Muan is now closed at the schema layer. That is a first step. The harder step — making sure every allied operator inherits the primitive without re-implementation — is what we ship next.

Park Moojin, CEO, UAM Korea Tech

UAM Korea Tech today confirmed that the April 2026 release of the Anduril Lattice Dashboard catalog ships platform_type: Animal with aliases.name: Bird (Species) as official entity primitives. The schema matches the submission UAMKT made on 23 March 2026 through the Anduril Developer Zone (Sent ID FMfcgzQgLPSDPNVTfVzPMpntljFwkBrV).

Until April 2026, the Lattice catalog had no first-class representation for non-machine, non-human aerial entities. A bird at 200 m AGL on approach to an active runway had no schema to live inside until it intersected an existing Track. That schema gap was the same gap that went unfilled when Jeju Air flight 7C2216 collided with birds during approach to Muan International Airport on 29 December 2024, killing 179 civilians.

What changes

Beginning with the April 2026 catalog release, allied operators using Lattice can:

  • Receive bird and other animal-class entities natively, without carrying them as private extensions
  • Combine altitudeHaeMeters height-above-ellipsoid (also officially added in this release) with disposition: NEUTRAL for high-altitude Animal-class tracks
  • Subscribe to UAM Korea Tech's _uamkt_extensions namespace for Korea-axis enrichment (habitat profiles, doctrine-tagged source citations, pre-indicator timestamps) without renegotiating the core schema

Validation

UAM Korea Tech's AVIX-AI BirdThreat publishing layer was validated against the new schema during the Incheon Technopark notice 2026-177 demonstration on 20 April 2026 (commit fbcb327), reporting 19/19 HTTP 200 entity submissions across the test corpus.

What we are not arguing

We are not arguing that the Lattice catalog should ship every Korea-axis primitive natively. The catalog's discipline is its strength; the gaps exist because Anduril is precise about scope. We are arguing that the gaps are visible, that they are closable, and that closing them through a partner namespace is the cleanest path. The April 2026 release is evidence the path works.
